Formal Farmhouse Projects. Find out what we've accomplished.

What is Formal Farmhouse?

Formal Farmhouse is our renovation style.

We take the best of vintage and combine it with today's stylish elements to create a look that is cutting edge, yet warm and totally livable.

In our current 100-year-old renovation project, we've carefully kept what has survived a century of wear-and-tear and integrated those elements into the house design. Sometimes it makes sense to keep what's in the house, especially handcrafted elements that just aren't available today. But sometimes it makes better sense, espeically when it comes to creature comforts of insulation and appliances, to integrate new technology into the design.

For this house, we've exposed rafters in the attic renovation, kept old floor boards, and refinished the original doors and hardware. While we're adding some elements like wide plank pine floors that keep with the original character of the house, we're also adding sleek appliances, modern lighting, and striking color palettes.

Weekend 2-by Projects

A 100-year-old house offers tons of opportunity and daily challeges to flex our home improvement skills and muscles.

But we admit that our addiction to all-things-carpentry doesn't end with our house. We're constantly dreaming up simple projects that we'll make out of 2-by stock.

Check out a few projects below.
